Superintendent's Message

Welcome from the Superintendent...

The Rockaway Borough School District has an enrollment of approximately 670 students in grades Pre- K through 8 and is committed to providing an outstanding education for all students. Students in grades Pre-K – 3 attend the Lincoln Elementary School and students in grades 4 - 8 attend the Thomas Jefferson Middle School. We strive to create a caring, supportive atmosphere where children are challenged and academic expectations are high.

Offering a quality, comprehensive education requires a collaborative effort from high quality staff, involved parents, dedicated administrators and a supportive board of education.  District personnel enjoy a close working relationship with parents in providing a positive school experience for their children.

Challenging courses are offered in a variety of subjects including math, science, social studies and language arts literacy. Special subject area instruction such as health and physical education, art, music, computers and Spanish are offered at all grade levels. The English as a Second Language program received a New Jersey Department of Education Best Practice award in May 2005 and has been identified as a model program.  Students also have the opportunity to participate in a multitude of extracurricular and co-curricular activities.   
 
In continuing our tradition of providing quality programs to students, parents are encouraged to remain active participants in the education process.  Keeping the lines of communication with teachers open, attending parent/teacher conferences and other school-sponsored events contribute to the success of our students. Together we make a difference for our children.

The Rockaway Borough Board of Education, administration and staff are dedicated to providing a positive, safe and nurturing environment where all students strive to reach their full potential. Our open door policy encourages dialog between teachers, parents, and administration in the common goal of providing the very best educational experience for the children of Rockaway Borough.

I am proud of the efforts and accomplishments of the students and staff in the Rockaway Borough School District and I look forward to continuing our efforts with parents and community in providing our students with the best education possible.
