The Rockaway Borough School District is a Pre- Kindergarten through Eighth grade district with an enrollment of approximately 620 students. Students in grades K – 3 attend the Lincoln Elementary School and students in grades 4 - 8 attend the Thomas Jefferson Middle School . Approximately 60 professional staff members provide educational services to students of the district.

The district is committed to providing students with an educational program that meets their individual needs and abilities and prepares them to become individuals who can effectively function in our democratic society. All students are provided with experiences in higher-level thinking, information processing, the responsibilities of citizenship, and employability skills.

The Rockaway Borough Schools operate under a community school concept. We are committed to open and honest communication between school and community to enhance public understanding and participation in our programs and activities. Our school facilities are used for a variety of community activities including scouts, borough sponsored sports, and meetings of community based committees and organizations. The Board of Education and administration maintains a positive working relationship with town officials and local government.

Both the Lincoln Elementary School and the Thomas Jefferson Middle School are wired for the Internet and all classrooms have Internet access and are equipped with 2 or 3 computers for student use. The board of education provides teachers comprehensive software programs such as SuccessMaker, diagnostic /prescriptive courseware used to improve math, reading and writing skills, and Knowledge Box, an interactive software package used to enhance instruction and increase student learning and academic performance.

The Rockaway Borough Board of Education, administration and staff are dedicated to providing a positive, safe and nurturing environment where all students strive to reach their full potential. Our open door policy encourages dialog between teachers, parents, and administration in the common goal of providing the very best educational experience for the children of Rockaway Borough.
